Traditional materials used in Machine-Tool parts have high density when used in mobile parts, high thermal strain, long delivery times and high energy consumption for part production.

The PRIMA (Improving Performance and Life-cycle Cost of Machine Tools through Advanced Materials) project aims at the improvement of Machine Tool performance through the application of composite materials and improved polymer concrete

Application of advanced composite materials in Machine Tool components will allow :

Better performance and competitiveness of Machine Tools (higher speeds, better static and dynamic behaviour of machine, etc.).
New suppliers for components of Machines.
Formation of designers and technicians in the use of composite materials.Reduction of the ecological cost of machine tools.
A new field for the composite materials components providers, so, growth of the sector.
