Designs and manufactures high-quality standard and custom solenoid actuators, control modules and systems for engine and motion controls.Trombetta Motion Technologies produces custom DC Contactors, market leading DC industrial work solenoids, and electronic controls to complement and enhance solenoid performance. From small to large forces and strokes to intermittent and continuous duty DC Contactors, Trombetta’s engineering services can custom design and manufacture the best solution for your application.
Trombetta was established in 1932 by Panfilo Trombetta. Mr.Trombetta was instrumental in designing the first commercial line of industrial work solenoids for General Electric and held several patents for these devices.
The company prospered and out grew its facilities and moved several times over the next 30 years.
Following the death of Panfilo in 1962, his son, Guido Trombetta assumed controlling interest and management of the corporation. Operations were combined into one facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
From 1932 through 1978 Trombetta marketed its products to a broad base of customers and specialized in custom designed industrial work solenoids of relatively large size. Technology in DC industrial work solenoids was expanded and the company started using electronic controls to improve the performance of the DC industrial work solenoid line.
In 1983, recognizing the growth and potential of the diesel industry, the decision was made to shift direction of the company from low volume specialty industrial work solenoids to higher volume engineered product lines. This decision led to the development of the P and Q 600 three-wire industrial work solenoid families. These products were well received by the industry and Trombetta responded with further product improvement and innovation.
In 1986, Trombetta was purchased by Main Street Industries, Inc. The new ownership stressed the modernization of all manufacturing, quality, sales and purchasing systems, with particular emphasis in the quality and manufacturing areas. This modernization included moving to the present facility in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. This relocation provided significantly more manufacturing space for future growth.
During the 1990’s Trombetta expanded its market focus to pursue a wider range of industrial applications. By utilizing the power of microprocessor technology and electromagnetic design modeling software, Trombetta provided products with much greater capability.
In April of 2001, Trombetta acquired CAMDEC, formerly Clum Manufacturing, a well-respected producer of plastic and metal housed DC contactors, switches and controls. These products are used in a wide range of industries and applications including Lawn & Garden, Truck and Bus, Hydraulics and Winch. The DC Contactor is an electromechanical device comprised of a solenoid and contacts within a defined housing. Therefore, the CAMDEC acquisition was viewed as a logical product extension. Combining the operations and product lines of the two companies has yielded a company greater than the two individual companies.
On March 19, 2004 Trombetta received certification that its Quality System conforms to ISO 9001:2000. Trombetta has been and continues to be a quality manufacturer as certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). It incorporates the international quality system requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Our certification is part of Trombetta’s commitment to remain a “world-class” manufacturer. By meeting the demands of ISO 9001:2000 Trombetta is within an elite group of manufacturers who have formally committed their operations and quality systems to improve customer satisfaction.
The key to our high quality control is our design and manufacturing process within our facility. We perform CNC machining, welding, brazing, electronic assembly, coil winding, mechanical assembly and testing. With our internal capabilities and external partners we can respond to our customer’s requirements in the shortest possible time.
Trombetta is the industry leader in designing and building industrial work solenoids, DC contactors and related controls to suit customer requirements. We listen and work with customers in developing specs to meet their requirements. With our fully equipped lab we are able to perform force, temperature, humidity, vibration, dust and life testing.
Trombetta’s unique combination of experience, expertise, reliability and quality make us the choice for motion control solutions.
