Brockway Mechanical sweeps Casella

Brockway Mechanical scored six runs in the second and third innings Tuesday on the way to a 12-5 victory in the first game and then went on to record a 6-3 win to complete a sweep of Casella Waste Management in Adirondack Senior Babe Ruth action.
Billy Bower rapped two doubles while Justin Besaw added two singles in the first game for Brockway Mechanical. Kevin O'Connell doubled, while six other players each had a hit.
Besaw struck out six in going five innings for the pitching victory.
Five players had hits for Casella Waste Management, with one of them being a double by Adam Guillette. John Canning, Chris Falcon, Chris Chagnon and Morgan Stanton each added a single.
Donny LaPorte led Brockway (11-3) with two hits, including a triple, in the second game. O'Connell, Cody Wood and Tyler Hoey chipped in with doubles. Wood fanned five in going the distance for the victory.
Three players ? Richard Chase, Stanton and Canning ? rapped singles for Casella Waste Management.
"We just need to cut down on our errors," said Casella head coach Travis Lavarnway. "They're killing us right now. We made three errors in the second inning of the first game when Brockway scored six runs.
"It was a lot cleaner game defensively for us in the second game."
