Midwest Mechanical will move HQ from OP to KC
24th May, 2006
Midwest Mechanical Contractors Inc. will move its headquarters early in the fall to south Kansas City from Overland Park, a company spokeswoman said Friday.
The move will bring about 50 jobs across the state line to 13800 Wyandotte St., spokeswoman Karen Miller said.
Midwest Mechanical will receive job training tax credits from Missouri. Property taxes on the $3.8 million project will be cut in half for 10 years.
Midwest Mechanical will consolidate a Kansas City warehouse at 2715 E. 87th Terrace with its current headquarters at 4550 W. 109th St.
Miller said company officers looked in Johnson County and south Kansas City. They wanted to stay along the Interstate 435 corridor, she said.
The new building under construction just east of State Line Road is being developed by the family of Mike Rice, whose other holdings include American Catastrophe/Environmental Services Inc. The environmental cleanup company is based at 13850 Wyandotte St.
The new building contains about 40,000 square feet. The contractor is Meyer Brothers Building Co. of Lee's Summit.
Midwest Mechanical's annual sales average $80 million, according to the company's Web site. Other company jobs include the University of Kansas Medical Center's biomedical research facility in Kansas City, Kan.
