The recreational lock at the Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site of Canada is currently closed due to a mechanical failure.

An assessment of the damage is underway and no time frame is currently available as to when repairs will be completed.

Boat traffic will be unable to use the recreational lock until further notice.

The lockmaster will not be available to maintain radio communication on VHS Channel 14 until repairs are complete and the lock is re-opened.

The public will be notified when repairs are complete and the lock is re-opened.
