Saturday night’s severe thunderstorms and a mechanical problem prevented three precincts from reporting returns on the School Board’s three 10-year property tax renewal propositions on the ballot, the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court’s Office reported Sunday.

The earliest the Secretary of State’s Office can tally the numbers from the precincts, all located in Ward 1, is Tuesday, said Fred Sliman, public information officer for the Clerk of Court.

Sliman said those numbers will account to fewer than 100 votes and will not have any effect on the outcome for three propositions, which passed with solid margins.

“To the best of my knowledge, a key broke in one machine and the other two were weather related,” Sliman said.

“No votes were lost and there is absolutely no way it will have an effect” on the outcome.
