Solberg struggling with mechanical problem
5th March, 2006

Thirteen is usually not considered a very lucky number and Petter Solberg will probably agree after SS13. The Subaru driver lost the use of his power steering, which is a major handicap on the twisty Mexican roads.

Solberg still managed to set the sixth best time but the Norwegian lost 23”7 over Loeb, who claimed another stage victory. The Kronos driver has increased his lead to 28”5 over Solberg. The only good news for Petter is the fact that the crews are now bringing the cars to the service area and the Subaru mechanics will probably be able to solve his problem. If that is the case, Solberg suffered from this inconvenience for only one stage.

Marcus Gronholm achieved his best result since the start of the rally by finishing second in SS13. The Finn is followed by Manfred Stohl (3rd), Chris Atkinson (4th) and Dani Sordo (5th).

The drivers now head back to Leon and the Poliforum before making their last appearance of the day at the Nextel Super Special later this evening.
