Mechanical problem closes Grand Rapids lumber factory
16th January, 2006
Ainsworth Lumber Co. said production at its Grand Rapids facility has been temporarily curtailed due to a mechanical breakdown Monday morning.
The Vancouver, British Columbia-based lumber company employs 190 workers at the facility. The extent of the problem is uncertain, but initial indications suggest the plant will be closed for five to seven days, the company said.
The plant resumed production Saturday following a Jan. 4 fire.
Ainsworth Lumber, which also has facilities in Cook and Bemidji, has a total of 600 employees in Minnesota.
