Our client is one of the world's leading manufacturers of sealed carbon dioxide lasers for marking applications and industrial processing.

A ‘hands on’ Senior Mechanical Engineer is required to join an enthusiastic team of mechanical engineers, electronic engineers and physicists to design and develop laser sources and related equipment. This position includes responsibility for a full range of projects from simple design improvements to full system design and documentation. Suitable candidates should possess a good mechanical engineering degree and have a minimum of 6 years relevant industrial design experience in a light engineering environment.

Ideal candidates will possess a design for manufacture mentality, good communication skills, competency as a talented designer and the ability to carry out mechanical design calculations. This is an interesting and varied position which will cover many aspects of engineering including thermodynamics, vacuum sealing technology, materials, optical design layout, product design and project management. Ideally, applicants will also have CAD skills including Solidworks, or similar 3D design experience and AutoCAD.
