NEXCOM Boosts its Versatile Vehicle Telematics Computer to Power Smart Cities
3rd October, 2018

FREMONT, Calif. - October 03, 2018 - NEXCOM has announced a new public transit and public works in-vehicle computer designed for multi-purpose functionality and overall versatility. With smart cities already being regarded as an immediate prospect for many world-class metropolitan cities, the new VTC 6220 also brings greater connectivity under Internet of Things.

To help take the in-vehicle computer VTC 6220 to greater distances, it supports 4 SIM cards in 2 pairs for phone calls (depending on WWAN module) and mobile communication functions, which provide extreme convenience for long travels across international borders. In addition, 3 LAN ports with optional 2 PoE offer more functionality, such as IP cameras.

With rich I/O interfaces, VTC 6220 is able to connect various devices; such as 3 displays for infotainment, ticketing and passenger information; as well as peripherals such as engine sensors, public announcement (PA) system, driver monitor and more. Further, NEXCOM s unique ultraONE+ port provides superior user experience (UX) with a single I/O for omni-transmission of audio, video, power and USB.

With optional built-in backup battery, VTC 6220 can reduce substantial data loss by offering buffer time and independent power in the event of a power outage. To further demonstrate NEXCOM s continued pursuit of rewarding users with surprising convenience and planning for travels through various weather environments, the in-vehicle computer s rugged shell helps it withstand ambient temperatures up 60 degrees C (139 degrees F) with the backup battery, or as high as 70 degrees C (157 degrees F) without it.

As for software support, VTC 6220 is pre-installed with Linux and Windows utility for users to freely develop personalized applications.

The in-vehicle computer is powered by an Intel Atom processor E3950 1.6 GHz to help users achieve more possibilities for their mobile telematics systems, but also remain economical.
